The motivation behind this work was to raise awareness in art and general public about visually impaired persons and guide dogs and the issue of accessibility. I collaborated with Jacqueline Vrijland and Nadia, Carin Bruin-van Heuven van Staereling and Hutch, and Cees Karssen and Amalia during three months.

One difference like sight creates another one, creates a division between them and us. So, I intended to shrink that division smaller and create a dialogue, by bringing visually impaired persons and their guide dogs in a surrounding of the art academy and create a situation for them to co-create an artwork, by their presence and simple movements.

We encountered a paradox where visually impaired people created a performance, which they cannot see but feel. They entered a “sacred space of art” where everyone can be a creator and where a need to cross the line of un-touch-ability both of art galleries and museums as well of artworks is very tangible.
